After a restful summer, the school year is off to a great start. This morning Father Tuan, our pastor, offered  Mass to pray for a blessed New School Year.

We are Sister Trinh Nguyen and Sr. Huong Vu, teachers of this wonderful Preschool and Pre-K class. We will assist your child and we look forward to a happy productive school year 2016-2017. To keep you informed we will be sending a newsletter each month, briefing you on the topics and activities emphasized in our Preschool and Pre-K program.

September is “Welcome and Getting to Know You” time for our Preschoolers. This week will be challenging and exciting as our preschoolers make new friends and adjust to new routines.

As our preschoolers initiate reading, writing, arts, and crafts, we praise their efforts, keep things easy and relaxed. In addition, of course, we can expect imperfections as they learn.

Some helpful tips: Encourage independence and make sure your child can hang his/her coat and backpack independently. Give them some practice with zipping their jackets and clean up after play. Little skills go a long way in making things easier for us. We will also value your support and cooperation in helping your child understand simple things such as:

  • Cooperation in a group setting,
  • Taking turns,
  • Following directions,
  • Listening to a story or listening while others speak, and exercising self-control.

Our learning goals for this month of September:

In our classroom, we create an atmosphere to stimulate learning and discovery through curriculum planning which is integrated.

This year we have a "Small Library" for parents next to the entrance door. You are welcome to check out books for pleasure reading. Reading for pleasure and interest will help your child to develop reading skills and will give your child the opportunity to practice these skills in meaningful ways. We also have a can of "The Questions for The Day", we encourage you to use it, too.

We do hope to make school as enjoyable and instructive as we can. Our goal is that the children leave school HAPPY each day.

If you need to contact us about anything, please feel free to let us know.

Thank you for allowing us be a small part of your child’s life.

Love and prayers,

Sr. Trinh Nguyen (LHC)

Sr. Huong Vu (LHC)
